The design proposes simple, rational and affordable social-communal housing development. Its main assumptions can be summarized in three points: integration, openness and affordability.
Integration – the compact shape of the residential building with a central staircase creates an impression of peace, unity and equality. The staircase is democratic and safe, there are no dead ends, dark corridors and the entire area can be seen by all residents. Natural light from one oblong skylight creates a pleasant atmosphere and limits the use of artificial lighting. The common square with the playground is open towards the public road, creating a space for integration between the building residents and their neighbors.
Openness – Access to greenery and the entrance area open to both streets make the building open to its surroundings.
Affordability – compact functional solutions, minimal façade area, inexpensive and durable elements, natural lighting of the common space – all that will lower the building and maintenance costs.
